My weird fascination with pigeons: The underappreciated city birds imo

Pigeons. The birds everyone seems to hate for reasons I can’t quite figure out. They’re seen as these “flying rats” of the city, but honestly? I’m fascinated by them. Maybe it’s because they’re so universally despised that I feel the need to stick up for them. Or maybe it’s just their stubborn, ‘I-don’t-care-about-your-personal-space’ attitude that makes me low key admire them.

One of my absolute favorite things to do is grind up some bread and feed hundreds of pigeons at once. There’s something ridiculously satisfying about seeing all those little feathered fiends scramble for crumbs.

When I lived in Amsterdam, I’d head down to the central square and just let the bread fly, pigeons swarming everywhere. It was pure chaos, and I loved every second of it. A perfect way to kill time in the city.

And this obsession isn’t new. When I visited Barcelona, I did the same thing, grinding up some bread, throwing it down, and watching the pigeons have the time of their lives. Got a photo of me surrounded by them in a different part of Barcelona, like some sort of pigeon whisperer. It’s become my signature pigeon shot, and let’s just say it’s definitely a conversation starter.

So yeah, I’m that guy. The one who’ll probably spend more time with pigeons than humans at a party. And honestly? No regrets. They’re misunderstood little weirdos, and I relate to that.

If you want to join my pigeon squad, grab some bread and find your local square. We’ll make it a thing.
