Why I Fight (Even when the odds are against us)

Read this before you scroll:
I didn’t get sober to be “healthy”. I got sober because I nearly died, in the sea at 6am.

There’s something powerful about standing up against systems that seem too big to fail, too powerful to challenge. It’s that classic “David and Goliath” story, where the underdog rises up against overwhelming odds, and even if they go down, they go down swinging hard

That’s where I find my motivation. For me, fighting isn’t just something I do, it’s who I am

Fighting for the underdog

From a young age, I’ve always felt the need to stand up for people who couldn’t stand up for themselves. It’s not just about winning a legal battle or facing down a corp, it’s about fighting for justice. I fight because I know what it feels like to be that person with no voice, no power, and no idea how to push back against injustice. As a kid, I experienced moments where I couldn’t defend myself, and that’s stayed with me. Now, as an adult, I’ve turned that feeling into a mission

Whether it’s an illegal eviction, a fight against medical negligence, or simply helping someone get through a tough situation, I love stepping into the ring for those who might not know how to fight on their own. It’s about justice, yes, but it’s also about heart. It’s about making sure that the people who are overlooked and disregarded don’t have to face these battles alone

Why the fight itself matters

The truth is, I love the fight. I thrive on taking on the big systems and corporations that most people think they can’t beat. It’s not because I’m looking for conflict, far from it. It’s because I believe that these systems should be held accountable. And even when the odds are stacked against me, I don’t back down

It’s that sense of stepping into the unknown, of charging headfirst into battle with the knowledge that it could go either way, gets my going. And even if it doesn’t go in my favor, there’s something fulfilling about standing up for what’s right, no matter the cost. I’d rather go down on my sword than walk away from a fight that matters

Values that define the fight

Integrity is at the heart of everything I do. It’s what drives me to stand up when most would sit down, to keep pushing even when the situation seems unwinnable. Courage, for me, is the willingness to face the unknown and fight for what you believe in, even when the outcome is uncertain

This fight isn’t just about winning cases or getting settlements, it’s about sending a godamnmessage, to myself and to others, that some things are worth fighting for.

I stand up for what I believe is right, because I believe I am worth standing up for, and so are the people who look to me for help. My self worth, and the worth of those I fight for, fuels my determination to keep going

The ripple effect: fighting for others

It’s not just about me. The battles I fight often set a precedent. They remind people that no matter how big the opposition or how risky the situation might seem, we can push back. The fight isn’t just about the present, it’s about the future. It’s about empowering others to take action, to know that they don’t have to accept injustice quietly

Every time I step up for someone who doesn’t know how to fight for themselves, I feel like I’m creating a ripple of courage. Whether it’s by getting information out there, making progress in a case, or just showing someone that they can stand up for themselves, it’s about making a difference, no matter how small. That’s success to me

Resilience as a strength

One of my greatest strengths is persistence. When things get tough, I push harder. When the system seems like it won’t budge, I find a way. In every fight, I bring everything I have—mental toughness, physical endurance, and the ability to just get it done. It’s not always easy, but resilience is what turns obstacles into opportunities. It’s the difference between walking away and pushing through

The Pursuit of Justice: My Purpose

Pursuing that, for me, is unreal. There’s nothing like the feeling of taking on something bigger than myself, of standing up and saying “This is wrong, and I won’t let it slide.”

It’s about more than just the fight, it’s about the purpose behind it. And that purpose gives me everything I need to keep going

Every battle I face, every challenge I take on, is a reminder that we all deserve justice, and we all deserve to be heard. And as long as I’m able, I’ll keep standing up and fighting—not just for myself, but for everyone who needs someone in their corner
